Jelly Jar serves up a tasty soul sandwich with heaping portions of blues topped with layers of r'n'b, funk and rock. Singer Jeff Hypnarowski is "an outstanding talent," says The Buffalo News, and Buffalo Blues Beat calls Jeff "hypnotic...a mesmerizer" while referring to the band's players as "transcendent" and "magnificent." Jelly Jar takes popular songs from a wide variety of styles and reconstructs them. "Beast of Burden " gets a dose of Motown, while "Some Kind of Wonderful" is fused over a funk/hip-hop groove. Expect the unexpected while you hear Jelly Jar deliver energy, emotion and, overall, a quality musical experience.
Meet the Newest (and youngest) Member of Jelly Jar: John Hunter
John is all about drumming. He plays with Tiger Chung Lee, Super Killer Robots and the Brass Pros and has toured the country several times with hip hop artist Chuckie Campbell. When he is not playing music, John, as owner of Flagship Studios in downtown Buffalo, is working as a sound engineer on recording projects. Jelly Jar has been busy practicing with John Hunter, bringing him up to speed on some of our favorites and also learning many new songs. It is a lot of fun.
